Coeur d'Alene Bike Course Ride

Hello all you Ironman Coeur d'Alene Peeps!! I will be riding the bike course this weekend. I will also be taking pictures of the ride and other things that I think might be of interest. So if there is something you want a picture of let me know. Sorry for the short notice but it just came to me that I should share this with everyone. I know if it was me I would what at least some pictures of a course that I would not have the opportunity to see before my big race.

Oooh, do you have a Garmin?! Please say yes. I am mostly interested in what is meant by "rolling hills" on this particular course. I've ridden "rollers" that were basically mountains and others that were very small mole hills.

Thanks for thinking of us!

I agree! If there's anyway to get the elevation gain, that would be ABFAB!

Definitely "Garmin" it...I was watching the IM CDA coverage from Versus yesterday and they were talking about 1 significant hill on the course. Any tangible info would definitely help.

have fun! the course is beautiful!! the hills, from what i remember, are just continuous. a couple of really good climbs, but then you get the awesome downhill on the other side.

I rode the course about a month ago (and will be doing IMCDA next June). It's a great course. As the Garmin shot indicates, the loop is mostly flat early, then it's ups and downs for about 25 miles before flattening out back into town. Those from flatlands will probably find the hills fairly formidable; I've always ridden lots of hills (and mountains). I liked the CDA hills. They weren't especially long and steep so as to be killer, and they weren't so short so as to be technically demanding. If you've ridden Vineman, another famously "rolling" course, I would say CDA hills are generally longer and straighter, allowing you to stay in a good rythmn. Definitely, though, hill repeats will be good training for CDA!
