Need another Sherpa?

I have decided to not get a bib number.
An injury popped up two weeks ago during a long run that is just not going away.
I refuse to walk/limp through 26 miles.
I don't want a permanent injury that will keep me from competing in years to come.
Hubby and I both cried this morning. We both have put so much time an energy into this.
But we are still going.
We will still be there for those of you who are toeing the line.
We will help in any way that we can.
Maybe it's just time for me to be a sherpa.
And I will sign up for next year.
It's that simple.

I am so sorry to hear about your injury! There is nothing worse than working your tail off to get an injury so close to race day. I think you are smart to back off, in the end you will be happier and heal faster, but not an easy task.

I hope you heal quickly. I am sending positive thoughts your way.

I am excited to meet you at the race.

oh, i'm so sorry, cheryl. but, i agree with your decision, as hard as it was to make. you are being wise about the injury and taking care of it now will hopefully prevent it from being something really, really serious.

big hugs to you. and i'm excited to meet you too.

As one who went through your experience last year, I am with you. I hope the injury is fleeting and you are once again headed towards several more decades of training and competing in this great sport.

Oh no. Well at least you are being smart about it. You don't want an injury to get worse!!

That's miserable. But good for you both for taking on the sherpa role!

Awww man, you've been working so hard. At least you don't have to fret about water temps now! And you can join in on the sherpa party! Glad you'll still be there.

Oh no! That is my worst nightmare - getting injured in the 11th hour. Are you absolutely positive that you need to withdraw? I'm sure you are but a lot of injuries will heal in 3 weeks. You've been to the doctor, right? What a bummer. On the other hand you can hang out with the rest of us Sherpas all day so my selfish self is good with that.

Oh man....I thought "what if" I had to make the same decision for some unforseen reason this close and I'm sure it was VERY HARD - I am feeling for you - still looking forward to seeing you there, and appreciate your energy!

So, Bigun is charading as me...as far as I know, Bigun doesn't wear my underwear when I'm not looking, but then again, I'm not looking!
