Freeze or Swim

Here is a recent article from the Coeur d'Alene Press.

It is beginning to look like we need to prepare for a chilly swim. Perhaps now is the time to start putting that body fat back on.

See you there!

Does anyone know what brand/kind of "water booties" are good for cold water? I saw some folks at Lake Mead with some but didn't get the brand..

No fear, peeps! FeLady and I will be swimming in the SF Bay on June 28 and that water is never much above 58, often colder. That's what wetsuits are for - you'll warm up.

I do recommend you get in the water before the start, pull open the neck of your wetsuit so it floods and you have time to warm up that water and get used to putting your face in the water. And then, right before the race starts - pee. You'll be fine!

I wear Blue Seventy booties that seem to fit and work fairly well.

My normal wetsuit for use in Tejas has no arms, but I'll be renting a full suit fo sho and probably buying a silly looking hat as well. Me no likey cold water.

We can wear those?

Also--My HIM at the end of last year was in 55 degree water. I wore a sleeveless wetsuit and was fine, but my toes were numb.

So, if the booties are street legal then I'm in.
