Thermal Socks

I have decided to treat the cold water sitchyashun in the time-honored approach to age group triathlon: there is no problem that cannot be solved (at least psychologically) with shiny new stuff.

Gear, baby.

I've obtained a new, full sleeve wetsuit, a goofy neoprene cap, the thermal shirt mentioned in the post immediately below, and the fetching little booties pictured above. I ordered them here.

I will be the only swimmer to DNF in 50 degree water because of overheating.

I don't think you will overheat in 50 degree water no matter what! Just a note about the booties: I got these booties in the smallest size and they are still too big. Also, acccording to NAS rules, no booties allowed in the race :(
Maybe they will make an exception for IMCDA.

I have been told that IM CDA will allow swim booties if the water is below 54 degrees.

"... Please purchase a Swim hoodies that is allowed and we are looking to see if the booties will be allowed since it is not allowed under the USAT guidelines. The race director will have more the information for me the first week in June so please check back with me then." "
